This weekend will be the first of hopefully three international tournaments that the kids of Serbia will be participating in. 30 kids in two different age groups (13-15, 16-18) will be traveling to Bussum, Netherlands to compete in a two day tournament. This tournament will serve as a “warm-up” for the more important “Cadet” tournament in Sofija, Bulgaria later in July. The kids serving on these two Junior National Teams were selected from a pool of more than 50 kids. A try-out took place last weekend where SBDA representative and BSS representative Keith Corona and Nikola Vucevic had organized and executed the event. SBDA representative Keith Corona had this to say about the try-out,”We are looking forward to this summer and the progress we will be able to make with the kids. Already we can see a difference in the quality of players and this is still with the depressed situation of them lacking fields and proper gear. Hopefully the SBDA will be able to get a good set of followers in the U.S. to help make this dream here come true.” Cities that sent potential players to the try out were Nis, Cacak, Belgrade, Novi Sad, Zrenjanin, and Sombor.
